Bizușa Baths

• Bizușa, Ileanda commune, Sălaj County, postcode 457190, str. Principală nr. 1.
• On DN 1C, the Dej to Baia Mare road, about 300 m from Ileanda, on the left slope of the Secătura valley, at roughly 240 m altitude.
• 60 km from Zalău, 45 km from Baia Mare, about 40 km from Dej and about 100 km from Cluj-Napoca via Dej.
• Ileanda railway station is 2 km away, on the Dej to Baia Mare and Jibou line, with connections from Cluj-Napoca through Dej.

• Sulphated, bicarbonate, chloro-magnesian, sodic, hypotonic and athermal mineral waters, per the TBRCM classification.
• Weakly sulphurous, very weakly chloride, calcic, sodic and magnesian.
• The deposit is characterised by H2S and CO2: hydrogen sulphide measures 0.7 mg/l in the boreholes and 4.2 mg/l in the springs.
• Four sources: three boreholes and one natural semi-thermal spring at 19 °C.

• Mostly pensioners on subsidised CNPP treatment tickets; over 1,000 people a year come for treatment.
• Resort profile, per TBRCM: inflammatory, degenerative and abarticular rheumatic conditions, hepato-biliary conditions, kidney and urinary tract conditions, peripheral nervous system conditions, gynaecological conditions.
• External cure for the locomotor system and post-traumatic sequelae; internal cure for hepato-biliary, nutritional and urinary conditions, on medical advice.
• Not a visitor attraction. There is no day ticket and nothing to swim in.

The mineral water rises from Oligocene deposits under the rocks of the Secătura valley: a complex of grey clays with a lignite layer, sandstones and limestones with pyrite concretions, which is what produces the mineralisation. Hydrogen sulphide is, according to the sources, the compound that gives these waters their particular qualities.

• No lakes, no mud declared as an official cure factor, no heliothermal effect. The water is used in tubs.
• The springs in the Secătura valley are not developed for visiting and cannot be bathed in.
• The mineral water is recorded as a facility of local interest from 1932, captured through two springs with a pumping station. Older texts mention those two springs; the figure used today, from local press, is four sources.
• The settlement of Bizușa-Băi is documented between the 14th and 17th centuries. For decades this was one of the busiest spa resorts in north-western Romania.

• Bizușa is confirmed in the TBRCM and CNPP network for 2026. It is one of the 13 units of Societatea de Tratament Balnear și Recuperare a Capacității de Muncă TBRCM SA, and its official page was updated on 21 July 2026.
• Hotel Ceres is classified at 2 stars, with modernised rooms and its own restaurant. Sources give contradictory capacity figures, so we do not quote any.
• Procedures: warm sulphurous tub baths, galvanic baths, thermotherapy, aerosols, electrotherapy (low, medium and high frequency currents, short waves, ultrasound, laser), low-frequency magnetic field procedures, therapeutic massage and medical gymnastics.
• The treatment base is explicitly described as a closed circuit for pensioners.

• The standard stay is 16 days of accommodation and meals, with 12 days of treatment.
• Full ticket value for a 2-star hotel in 2026: 3,480 lei, against 3,156 lei in 2025.
• The insured person pays 50% of that value if their gross monthly income is below the average gross wage (9,192 lei in 2026); otherwise they pay the full amount.
• Tickets are collected from the county pension house starting 22 April 2026.
• Booking a room without a treatment ticket looks possible, since the operator runs a reservations page and the unit appears on booking portals, but no per-night rates are published for 2026.
