Pucioasa Baths

• Dâmbovița County, on the Ialomița valley, at 350-400 m altitude.
• 20 km from Târgoviște and about 100 km from Bucharest on DN71, roughly 1 to 1.5 hours by car.
• Its own railway station in the resort, on the Bucharest, Titu, Târgoviște and Pietroșița line.

• Sulphurous, sulphated, bicarbonate, calcium and sodium-chloride mineral waters, in the official TBRCM wording.
• The second declared cure factor is the climate: wooded hills, cool summers, negatively ionised air.
• Cold at the source, used heated in tubs and pools. Not thermal water.

• Treatment stays booked as a package or as individual procedures, always by appointment.
• Pensioners with a CNPP treatment ticket at Hotel Ceres.
• Quiet town breaks: Independenței Park, the reservoir lake, the ethnography museum, an ice rink in Central Park in winter.
• Not suitable for a walk-in day of outdoor bathing.

• Sulphur is the specific factor here, used externally in baths and underwater showers, and also through inhalations and aerosols.
• There are no mofettes and no therapeutic mud at Pucioasa.
• A source temperature of 15 °C and a flow of 4.5 l/s circulate in balneology databases, but neither figure is confirmed by an operator or by the town hall. Treat them as indicative.
• The temperature of the two indoor sulphurous pools is not published by either operator.

Pucioasa is a nationally designated spa town set among wooded sub-Carpathian hills at 350 to 400 metres, with cool summers and strongly negatively ionised air. The climate is declared officially as a cure factor alongside the water, which is why treatment stays here are usually organised as full series rather than single visits.

Hotel Ceres, on Str. Republicii no. 1, is a branch of TBRCM, the company that supplies the state-subsidised CNPP treatment tickets, and has 230 places.

• Warm mineral-water baths in tubs and in the pool, herbal baths, paraffin wraps.
• Inhalations and aerosols with sulphurous water, electrotherapy, thermotherapy.
• Underwater shower, galvanic baths, massage and kinetotherapy.
• CNPP tickets run in 15 series between 27 April and around 21 December 2026, with the last entries on 5 and 6 December.

Hotel Turist, run by Turism S.A. on Str. Republicii no. 110, has the largest capacity in the resort: 880 procedures a day for 220 patients, across 26 types of procedure.

• A partial balneotherapy sector with 10 sulphur tubs.
• A general sector with two indoor sulphurous pools.
• An artificial salt room for series of 8 to 10 people, plus sauna, jacuzzi and a salt-water tub.
• It works with tickets for insured patients on the basis of a referral from the family doctor, an activated health card and a pension slip, but it is not part of TBRCM.

Therapeutic profile, per TBRCM: degenerative, abarticular, inflammatory, post-traumatic and post-operative musculoskeletal conditions, respiratory conditions, ENT conditions, dermatological conditions, nutritional and metabolic disorders and conditions specific to certain occupational diseases.

Pucioasa is 20 km from Târgoviște and about 100 km from Bucharest on DN71, the Bucharest to Târgoviște and Sinaia road, which means roughly 1 to 1.5 hours by car. The resort has its own railway station. Sinaia is 45 km away and Brașov about 100 km, so the town also works as a stopover on the way to the mountains.

What has actually been rebuilt in town, through a 2014-2020 regional programme: 6.2 km of streets with new pavements and gutters, two landscaped green areas (the Station Park and the Stadium Garden) and a tourist train.
