About Dorobanți Thermal Strand
This is a village bath in a Hungarian-speaking border commune, not a resort, and the scale shows in the paperwork. It is run by GRĂDINA TERMALĂ SRL, tax number 34759618, set up on 9 July 2015, registered at Dorobanți 791. The company declared 1 employee in 2024 and a turnover of 1,200,060 lei, with a net profit of 125,085 lei, up 49.6% on 2023. Dorobanți itself is called Kisiratos in Hungarian, has 1,618 inhabitants, 89.3% of them Hungarian and 8.59% Romanian, was first documented in 1454 and only separated from the town of Curtici in 2004.
The bath is older than the company that runs it: the first strand opened in 1988, the Grădina Termală rebrand dates from 2014, and the company was registered in 2015. One thing changed in 2026 and nobody has picked it up. The official site, gradinatermala.ro, no longer exists — the domain does not resolve in DNS, checked on 3 August 2026 — which means the contact@gradinatermala.ro address still listed by the county tourist information centre is most likely dead. Getting there
- By car: 22 km from Arad on DJ 709B, or 28 km on DJ 709C and DJ 709J through the Gai district and Iratoșu, a quieter route.
- By bus, which is unusual for a village bath: CTP Arad runs Arad (Podgoria) – Șofronea – Dorobanți, leaving at 8:45, 15:40 and 17:25, with returns from the stop opposite Dorobanți town hall at 5:30, 10:00 and 18:30.
- That timetable comes from an older source. Check it with CTP Arad before you rely on the last bus back.
Source and pools
- The water comes out of the ground at 55 °C. In the basins: treatment pool 36–40 °C, children’s pool 32–36 °C, swimming pool at a temperature described only as optimal for sport, with no figure published.
- Borehole depth and the chemical type from a laboratory report are both unpublished. The curative water language in the travel press has no public analysis behind it.
- In its own Instagram description the bath presents itself as a strand with thermal water and 5% salt water. No third-party source, guide or press article mentions salt water. Treat it as the operator’s claim and confirm it by phone.
What the ticket covers
- One and a half hectares with three beach areas, hot showers, changing rooms, a roofed open-air space set up for massage, a restaurant serving traditional food at weekends, and a bar.
- A camping area with access to utilities, barbecues and cauldrons, plus a large car park. The ticket covers everything in the complex, the campsite included.
- Craft workshops for children, parties and sports activities run through the season.
The pools, and who each one is for
- The treatment pool, 36–40 °C, is the hot one and the reason most adults come. It is also where the hydrokinetotherapy sessions are held.
- The children’s pool sits at 32–36 °C, warm enough to keep small children in the water for a long stretch.
- The swimming pool is 30 m by 10 m, with progressive depth down to 2 m, cooler than the other two.
- One source gives the swimming pool as 30 m long and 2 m wide. That is an editing error; the rest of the sources agree on 30 by 10 m, 2 m deep.
- There is no institutional medical source for Dorobanți. It is not a classified spa resort, has no accredited treatment base and does not appear in the CNPP network. What can be stated with a source: there is a treatment pool, hydrokinetotherapy sessions are organized, and the staff includes a nurse and a lifeguard present at all times.
- The conditions named in press coverage — rheumatism, arthritis, pareses, paresthesia, inflammatory gynaecological and respiratory conditions — come from journalism, not from a balneology assessment. Ask your own doctor before you plan a stay around them.

- The season is described as April to November. In 2017 it ran May to September, with hours of 9:00–24:00, so the window has moved before.

- In 2017 the bath reported 1,500–2,000 visitors a day at the height of the season, so a July weekend is not a quiet proposition.

- For historical context: in August 2017 the rates were 10 lei a day, 45 lei for 7 days, 140 lei a month and 350 lei for the whole season, so passes did exist at one point.
- No season passes have been published for 2026. If you are planning a longer stay, ask about them directly.
- Since the website is gone, the price list lives only on Facebook, at Gradina.Termala, and on Instagram, at gradina.termala. Check the date on the post you are reading.
Good to know
- The village calendar is part of the visit. August brings the smallholders’ day and an international camp of painting, sculpture and graphics that ends in an exhibition. September brings an international Hungarian folk music festival, the Catholic church’s patron saint day and an international choir festival.
- The public is not only from Arad. In 2017 German tourists were coming regularly, and some had bought houses in the village to spend their holidays in.
- The most honest accommodation recommendation is the campsite inside the grounds, which is already in the ticket price. Dorobanți is a village of 1,618 people with no classified hotel structures.
- If you want a roof: Pensiunea Arada in Arad, or Pensiunea Etap on the Arad western bypass, with 32 beds.
- Do not plan Curtici Thermal Strand as a fallback. It is 6 km away, but it is closed for the whole of 2026 for modernization works.
